Silvers & Sun Rays

Dress - Urban Outfitters, Belt - Rowfers, Maxi-Skirt & Shoes - Forever 21

Today has been ever so hectic. What with that ever growing mount of work on my desk (I'm sure it just multiplies in size by itself) and the necessary weekend lie-ins, I've been a bit rushed for time today. But, I made sure I could fit in this outfit post - partly because I thought I'd show my latest bargain. These silver shoes were hiding in Forever 21, and I had to double check at the till that they were actually £2.99. Ah, crazy! I started to clue in as to why seeing as they pinched me a lot when I first broke them in, but now they're seriously comfortable - well worth a few quid! I've also been meaning to share this dress I got for Christmas, and the cut details are so lovely. I'm going to try getting away with it tomorrow for school (minus the maxi-skirt; I'm not feeling quite that risqué), fingers crossed! I also thought I'd include a few family heirlooms - my rings. They go back generations, and it's lovely to own something so precious...As to the rest of my day, it has been tiring. Now, don't laugh...I went running with my friend. I said no laughing! I am the least sporty person I know (although I am a football fan, that's as far as it goes), and the throbbing in my legs is seconding that thought. It was nice actually, especially in this sunny weather - hense the sun ray exposures on my photos. I thought they'd obscure my outfit images a little, but I like them. It's making me feel that Summer will be here soon. As for my outfit, I've gone straight back to my monochrome ways, but I've decided to embrace it whole-heartedly. Maybe in the hot weather I'll be forced to reconsider, but for now, I love it!

Hope you all have a lovely week,

Uncovering Little Treasures...

This box has been on my side table ever since I've bought it...yet it's been donkey's years since I peeked inside! After sorting my room this weekend, I opened it up and saw things I haven't seen for so long; finding such things always gives you such a sense of nostalgia, and I thought I'd post them on here for my weekend post.

The first thing to greet me was this lovely hand-mirror, the details of which I simply love. The lady checking her reflection is especially beautiful, particularly the way it's woven into the design. It's a shame I know better to appoint it as my out-and-about hand-mirror - knowing my clumsy ways, it would soon get broken! - but I'm glad I can use it more after uncovering it after so long!

I love discovering long-hidden photographs, but finding these snaps really meant a lot to me. It's from the time I first visited Landan, with my Mom and her best friend, and as you can probably tell from the angle of the shot I took of them together, I was a little totter! It's such a wonderful place, and this was also probably the first time I used a camera, an object which has since become a big thing in my life. Maybe this was how it started! I actually never thought of this trip to London much, but since seeing these, it's made me realise what a significant event it was for me...It's strange how you realise these things when you look back on them.
Haha, there's also some photos from my seventh birthday at the Wacky Warehouse lurking underneath, but I thought I'd spare you the sight of those! Hope you've all had a lovely weekend, with a lovely week to come.

Is That...Colour?

Necklace (originally bracelet) & Stud Earring - Urban Outfitters, Snake Earring - Regal Rose, Top - Topshop, Skirt - Henry Holland, Boots - Dune, Leather Jacket - Warehouse

Seeing as I can't even remember the last time I wasn't dressed in pure monochrome, I decided I ought to incorporate more colourful pieces in to my floordrobe wardrobe. I think I received this little, pleated number on my birthday, around December, and thought it'd be perfect for the warmer weather, which turned out to be this weekend. Okay, it's hardly a risqué outfit, especially seeing as I've enveloped it with my usual black pieces, but it was, admittedly, a bit daunting for me to leave the house in it! I think that's a sign I've become to accustomed to colour-absent outfits - something I'm challenging myself to change. Any fashion-related goals you've set yourself lately?

Out & About in Oxford/What I Wore!

Today my Mom and I went to Oxford to visit an art exhibition, and ended up having a look about seeing as we hadn't visited in awhile. I love this city; the people, shops and buildings are just so interesting! So, naturally, I brought my good old camera along to get some pictures of it all to share with you guys. I even managed to get some outfit shots, considering I haven't taken any in quite a time (thank you Mom!), amongst other photos. Hope you get a taste of this great place through these pictures!

After a street walkabout, and some a lot of cake eating, we walked over to the Museum of Natural History - one of my favourite places. It's a bit of a mixed feeling for me, observing the stuffed animals - it's quite sad for me to see, but at the same time, I see how educational and interesting they are (although I became very captivated by the building's design). It must be a great place for young children, and you can see from the photos how absorbed one girl was! She was ever so sweet, carrying her blue chair to get a better view of the creatures, so I had to get a shot of her. There's also a section further on about the Pitt Rivers, which I took a quick video of - I hope you enjoy it! I think the place has such a magical atmosphere. Just seeing a history of not just one nation but the whole world - religious, military, cultural - is so intriguing - a wonderful place to visit if you're ever nearby.

Before we took the train back, we got a few shots of my weekend outfit. I've never been very confident through wearing colours; I'm so much more interested in the texture of clothes. So, even though this is a one-tone outfit, I tried assembling a variety of textures to give it some edge! I think these tights I recently bought just help brighten it up that slight amount, too...although I ended up managing to get a hole in the pair before the day was through. It's so frustrating when that happens!

(Leather jacket - Warehouse, Jumper & Tights - H&M, Velvet Dress - Topshop, Shoes - Camden Market)

After editing all of that, I think I'm ready for a cuppa tea, a magazine, and my bed! I actually bought a magazine I hadn't heard of before today - Oh Comely - and I think it's close to Elle as having my favourite articles in. They cover such quirky and interesting topics - rather inspiring to read! What's your favourite magazine at the moment?
