Glasses!

Last week, I finally got my eyes tested which meant two things: I could at last wear a pair of glasses that actually improved my sight and I can finally read the board in my history lessons! These were the first pair I picked out in the shop and I think between the cute frames and the 50% off sticker attached to them, they were the perfect choice. Although I'm trying to only wear them in lessons, they were too good to resist a little show on here! The weekend just gone was the perfect opportunity to get some snaps, seeing as my friends and I were going to the country woods to take some photos - these ones of me were taken by my great friend Heather, who always takes lovely shots! From there, we walked up to the fish and chip shop and returned to Alice's to watch The Duchess and Bridget Jones...a very British weekend - it even rained!

It was a pretty ace Saturday all in all. I really should've spent all Sunday revising for exams, but I was still in camera mode, and started working on a photography project: Camouflage! It'll probably take quite awhile to complete with all the work going on, but I've managed to get a quick edit up on my Flickr account to start it off - there's a little explanation too before you think I've gone bonkers with ivy leaves! A lot of my work I shoot myself for, which is really due to my lack of free time, and editing your own face a lot is such a pain. So it'll probably take a bit of time before I've really got stuck into the project, seeing as I'm going to be photographing lots of people for it. Fingers crossed I get to do it soon!
And congratulations to The Elgin Avenue for winning Marie Claire's Fashion Blog of the Year! She has an ace style and blog, so you should definitely check her out. Plus thank you so much to everyone who voted - I made it on to the shortlist, unbelievably, so it meant a lot!

Hope you have a lovely week,
Eva :) xxx

Monochrome Mood!

Necklace - Accessorize
Jumper - H&M - £10
Velvet Dress - Topshop - £20
Boots - Dune

I think my decision to dress in pretty much entirely black is due to my protesting impatience for the warmer weather to come...I think I'll feel a bit more colourful when the sun comes out! Although, I really do love wearing this velvet dress - my Christmas sales buy! - so I'm sure it'll make plenty more appearances. In fact, I've been adding a few velvety-type pieces to my wardrobe - including a maxi-skirt which I wouldn't usually buy (it's not black, for a start!) but I guess I was feeling a bit adventurous.
Unfortunately, I haven't had time this weekend to take many photos, but I thought I'd put a few snaps together to show you my very colourful outfit (well, I am wearing bright, red nail varnish if that counts!). Revision is reluctantly becoming my priority at the moment so I haven't got much time for many blog-related things this month, which I really resent - it's what picks me back up after a hefty German essay or two! I must admit though, I'm seriously enjoying my English course at the moment; he's not the most joyful poet, but we're studying Edward Thomas. I'm not usually a massive fan of poetry, yet his work is so beautiful. I'd definitely recommend him for any poetic people out there - although you might not leave his work feeling upbeat...Speaking of, I have an English essay to write, wish me luck!

Have a lovely week,
Eva :) xxx

P.S. Oh! The Marie Claire Blog Of The Year votes are still open for another few days, it'd mean a lot if you'd sent a vote my way if you had the time. Thank you!

Day = Made!

I've only just got home from a long day at school, and I was feeling so down and tired. But then, I saw I've made it on to 'Marie Claire Blog & Twitter Awards' long list and jumped up and down for five minutes - a definite sign of a cheered up person!  This is so amazing to have been nominated for something like this and thank you so much. I mean, I'm next to some of my favourite bloggers so it's really exciting, and it'd be lovely for you guys to vote for me if you could take the time. I would so appreciate it, and I also (trying to not get cheesy and soppy, sorry!) wanted to thank everyone who take their time to look at my blog, follow it and read it. You guys and your blogs are genuinely my inspiration (okay, verging on cheesiness!) and to see my name on a nomination list for an award for doing something I so much enjoy doing is great. Thank you so much for all your lovely comments and for looking at something I never thought would be interesting to others. It means so much, and I know it seems mad as it's not much of a deep blog but whilst having this, I went from a pretty reclusive person to a more happy, confident one so thank you! You can vote for me here under the blog 'Polka dots and pinafores'!
I've got to go out now, I just wanted to make a quick post - this is just a quick ramble; just thought I'd take the opportunity to say thank you!

Happy New Year!

(not the best idea to venture the muddy outdoors in brand new suade, I admit!)

Jacket - Topshop - £40
Scarf & Belt - Thrifted
Feather Earrings - Regal Rose
Dress - Yellow Cat @ TkMaxx - £14.99!
Boots - Dune

Happy New Year guys! First post of 2012...though nothing prolific for the occasion I'm afraid; just another outfit post! This is what I wore to welcome yet another year, although I didn't get up to too much. I went over to a friend's house, and after watching some old Westerns, eating all the Quality Street and having those deep conversations at two in the morning you believe to be philosophical when you're half-asleep, I had a good snooze. Not a wild evening, but a fun one at the least! I made sure I had a wild day however...which was spent editing photos and singing along to an Iggy Pop album(!). I'm sure you can compete with my night - any fun New Year celebrations?
And! Oh my, I've just bought a remote for my camera too. I found taking my photos much more fun without the monotony of manual focus...although, possibly too much fun - looking at the muddy state of my brand new boots, which are black (as seen in my Christmas Wishlist, I swore to get a colourful pair. Haha, until next year. No, this year! Looks like it'll take me awhile to remember it's not 2011 anymore!).
